Peppermint tea is considered a carminative, meaning that it helps to move gas through the body as it accumulates, rather than causing bloating, cramping, and stomach discomfort. The tea also stimulates bile flow to increase the rate and efficiency of digestion and promote healthy bowel movements. Pu-erh tea is a Chinese tea that has been fermented for at least 3 years. Pu-erh tea has been used for thousands of years by traditional Chinese medicine practitioners who believed the tea could help fight cancer, protect kidneys and aid weight loss.
Studies have shown that pu-erh tea can significantly aid with weight loss by suppressing fatty acid synthesis (FAS). This means that it can help block your body from producing fat. Pu-erh has been clinically proven to enhance cellular levels of hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) which effectively blocks visceral fat accumulation. HSL is a critical enzyme that “unlocks” fat cells so that their contents can be emptied out.
Pu-erh tea has shown to increase the healthy bacterial flora in the stomach and intestines, which may aid in proper digestion of foods.
Recent studies have shown that long term appropriate use of pu-erh tea can help lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and help increase HDL levels (good cholesterol).

The polyphenol compound found in oolong tea is very effective in controlling the metabolism of fat in the body. It activates certain enzymes, thereby enhancing the functions of fat cells in the body. It is commonly believed that daily consumption of oolong tea can reduce obesity. More widespread studies need to be done on humans, but early studies are very promising. In one animal study, mice that were given polyphenols in addition to a high-fat and high-sugar diet still showed a decline in overall body weight and fat index. Some earlier studies actually showed that the caffeine content was the active ingredient behind the weight loss, but it now appears to be mainly due to polyphenols.
